It won the Silver Trophy at the New York Television Awards in 2008. Filmed on location in Milford, Michigan, where Lynch is the director of his family's funeral home, at Mullett Lake in Northern Michigan, and in Moveen, West Clare, Ireland where Lynch keeps an ancestral cottage, Learning Gravity, traces the connections between Lynch's work as a funeral director and his literary work as a poet, essayist and fictionist. It takes its name from a poem in Lynch's first collection, "Skating with Heather Grace."
